Sciatica Treatments

Dr. Renee Gehrig heads up the Gehrig Family Chiropractic Center in State College, PA. Our doctor is seasoned and skilled at relieving sciatica. She provides over a dozen services for her patients and has earned the trust of the communities she serves.

One patient complaint that our doctor frequently treats is sciatic nerve pain.

What is Sciatica?

Dr. Gehrig says sciatica is quite common, and no one should suffer its relentless pain.

If you have ever had a bout of sciatic pain, you know that it often comes on quickly and, most times, is excruciating. However, sometimes sciatica may take the form of numbness or tingling. Sciatic pain generally originates in the lower back and can be mild to debilitating, making walking, sitting, standing, or lying difficult.

The sciatic nerves run from the lumbar vertebrae and through the hips, down each leg to below the knee until they branch off into other nerves into the legs, feet, and toes.

Sciatica develops when you have inflammation or irritation or when a joint in the spine at the lower back becomes misaligned, causing a pinch. It all depends on where the pinched nerve is located. For example, symptoms may develop when a herniated disc causes pressure on the nerve root. It usually affects one leg at a time.

Treatment to help decrease sciatica could include finding the misaligned joint and pushing it back into place, thus relieving the pressure on the nerve.

Chiropractic Treatment Helps Decrease or Eliminate Sciatica

Please call us at 814-231-0717, and do not suffer one more day from sciatica. Dr. Gehrig can review all of your risk factors and possible causes of why you have sciatica. Then, she can talk to you about a treatment plan to help keep your sciatic nerve healthy. Treatment options could take minutes to relieve the pressure on your sciatic nerve, thus decreasing or eliminating the pain.

There is no reason to suffer from pain any longer. Our doctor has successfully helped many sciatica patients. However, she can only help you once you give her a call. Treatments are not painful; most patients find immediate relief from discomfort after chiropractic treatment.
